What began in 1945 in one small building on the Back River of the Chesapeake Bay, the dream of Samuel J. Weaver, Senior, has evolved into a first class, full service marine facility with floating piers and over 115 slips.
Over the years Weaver's has endured fish kills, algae, mosquitoes, raw sewage, trash, tires and constant silt filling the river.
Back River has beautiful wildlife and is a perfect place for boating, jet skiing, fishing and crabbing, thanks to the hard work of the Back River Restoration Committee. Cleaning up the Back River has been and continues to be a big job, but we are definitely seeing improvements every year as well as the return of more and more wildlife to our area. Sam Weaver, Jr., and partner Jeff Zahner grew up and live on the Back River. They recently invested 1.5 million dollars to renovate the marina and make it a first class facility. Weaver's has 8 employees, slip renters from all over Pennsylvania, D.C., New Jersey, Virginia, and West Virginia. Boaters travel from as far away as the western parts of the United States to have their boats serviced at Weaver's Marina.
